Draw with eXperiBot

Build an eXperiBot that draws with a pen.

eXperiBot is holding a blue pencil and drawing a tree.

This project is compatible with all eXperiBot sets.

Task

Equip your eXperiBot with a pen and let it draw.

Setup

Attach a pen to your eXperiBot so it can draw on a sheet of paper. How you attach the pen to the eXperiBot is up to you. Here are a few suggestions:

Assembly with a Grabber module

If you have a Grabber module on hand, you can use it to hold the pen. It might work better if you arrange the Grabber fingers differently or remove one of them.

Assembly with a 3D-Printed clamp

If you have a 3D printer, you can print a clamp for your pen.

Download the following file and open the included STL files in the 3D printing software of your choice.

We recommend PLA Basic as the printing material.

Assembly without a mount

If you have no other option, you can attach the pen to your eXperiBot using Scotch tape or other materials. You might also be able to clamp the pen between two eXperiBot axles.

More ideas

Allow your eXperiBot to lift the pen and put it back down. This can be done by shifting your eXperiBot’s center of gravity. Do you have a Pivot module? If so, you can use it to move a weight that shifts the center of gravity.
