Mars rover
Build a Mars rover that collects rock samples.

This project is compatible with the following eXperiBot sets:
Smart Team set
Task
For this project, you will build and program a Mars rover that detects and collects rock samples. Use a Multisensor mounted to its side to detect rock samples. Then use the Grabber to pick up the rock sample and transport it to a destination.
Setup
Build a mobile eXperiBot with a Grabber. Your Mars rover can behave like a line follower while collecting the foam cubes positioned next to the line as rock samples. It’s best to mount the Grabber directly on the motor module so that the center of gravity is properly positioned and your rover remains stable.
Track
A black line works well as a track. You can add colored dots to the line to send signals to your rover: for example, to signal to your rover that it should drop off the collected samples at that point or that it has reached its destination and can end the program.
Hints
Make sure that your eXperiBot’s center of gravity is as close to the edges as possible. If too much weight is on the “sliding foot,” your eXperiBot will have trouble turning. In addition, your eXperiBot may tip over when it extends its Grabber to grab something. Use additional Cubes or other modules as counterweights if necessary.
More ideas
If collecting the rock samples works well, you can attach a tray to your eXperiBot, where it can place the rock samples and transport them to their destination.
Then have your Mars rover remove the cubes from the tray and place them at their destination.
