Wall follower

Build an eXperiBot that moves along a wall or barrier.

eXperiBot moves along a barrier.

This project is compatible with all eXperiBot sets.

Task

Build an eXperiBot that travels along a wall or barrier. You can let the eXperiBot drive around on the floor to do this. If you’d rather work on a table, the barriers of the eXperiBot arena are ideal.

Setup

You’ll need two Multisensors: one facing forward and one facing to the side. If you have more than two Multisensors, you can attach one to each side of your eXperiBot.

Sample setup for the wall follower.

You’ll notice that the side Multisensor doesn’t fit right next to the wheel. You can assemble your eXperiBot as shown in the picture to solve this problem. If you have a longer wheel axle available, you can also attach the Multisensor between the Cube and the axle. You can see how this is done on the last page of the assembly instructions for the Blue Collector from the Smart Recycling scenario.

Hints

Hint 1

Use the following block to measure the distance between the Multisensor and the wall:

Hint 2

You can use the distance value to control the motor:

Hint 3

Try having one motor axis controlled by the front Multisensor and the other motor axis controlled by the side Multisensor.

You will probably need to modify the sensor values slightly to make it work.
